What was once a thriving family farm, Kawartha Settlers’ Village is now home to a fascinating collection of over 20 historic buildings. Experience what life was like for pioneers in the Kawarthas as you stroll leisurely through the Village and discover artifacts from 1830 – 1935.
Today, the Village is operated by the Kawartha Region Arts and Heritage Society.

To develop and operate Kawartha Settlers’ Village, a place where people come to experience culture, arts and heritage and to promote the artistic interest and history of the Kawartha region.
We are happy to announce we will be opening for General Admission on July 1, 2020. We will be restricting the amount of people both in the Village and in each building at a time. Proper disinfecting and hand sanitizer will be implemented and proper social distancing measures in place.

The Discovery Trail is on the same site as Kawartha Settlers’ Village, meanders around the perimeter, so as you stroll along you will catch glimpses of log homes and historic buildings – and perhaps a sketcher or two – adding to the tranquil atmosphere.
From agricultural implements to household treasures, Kawartha Settlers’ Village has an extensive collection of artifacts. A vast amount of our items have been preserved locally and tell the story of early settler life in the Kawartha Lakes.
